Frequently Asked questions?

Find answers to common questions that come in your mind related to IPO.

SME IPO shares can be sold the same way as any other IPO shares: via DEMAT/Trading account or by calling your broker.

You can view SME IPO listings on the BSE SME and NSE EMERGE platforms. You can also get details on the upcoming, ongoing and listed SME IPOs, on Ticker’s SME IPO section.

SME IPO shares are listed on the SME platform of the BSE and NSE exchanges (i.e. BSE SME, NSE Emerge).

Apart from oversubscription, there are several other reasons why you may not receive an allotment:

  • Submission of an invalid application with some spelling mistakes,
  • Invalid DP ID, PAN, UPI ID, etc.
  • Submission of multiple bids using the same PAN number
  • Submitting a bid at a price lower than the final issue price

SME shares can be bought and sold, but there are a few key points to keep in mind:

Lot Size: SME shares are traded in lots instead of individual quantities. Each SME IPO specifies a lot size (e.g., 2000 shares per lot). When you buy or sell, it must be in multiples of the lot size.

Stock Exchanges: SME shares can be traded only on the exchanges where they are listed, either the BSE or the NSE.

Apart from the lot size and exchange, trading SME shares is similar to trading mainboard shares.

Selling SME IPO shares can be tricky for a few reasons, including:

  • SME IPOs are typically less liquid than established companies, so the price on the listing day can be significantly different from the issue price.
  • The price of SME IPOs is heavily influenced by market forces of demand and supply on the listing day.
  • Human psychology and emotions can cloud decision-making when investing in the stock market.
